WFL Transport expands to interstate transport operations

    17 Dec

In an exciting development for WFL Transport and Waverley Forklifts, a new addition has joined the fleet – a truck to cover interstate transport!

It’s been 25 years since Waverley Forklifts last ran interstate transport, with the last truck finishing up in 1995. The arrival of this new truck has been highly anticipated and we’re elated to now have it on board with us.

The eye-catching black Kenworth T610 Prime Mover will be fitted with a Freightmaster B-Double dropdeck trailer. This trailer has been custom built to allow all-terrain forklifts to be driven onto the front of the A-Trailer. It is currently running as a single trailer, with the A-Trailer scheduled for delivery in early January. Like all of the WFL Transport fleet, it is NHVR accredited and this allows the truck to be loaded for a higher mass.

The truck, known as Truck 58, will be driven by long-term WFL Transport employee Mat Whelan. Mat has been with WFL Transport for over six years and his experience makes him the ideal person to move into this new interstate driver role. Mat is excited to be an integral part of this expansion for WFL Transport and very eager to get out on the open road with this new truck and trailer combination.

In addition to our existing subcontractor network, Truck 58 will service all of our own branches for equipment transfers, along with interstate machinery movements for our customers. The truck will be based at the Victorian Head Office and will primarily cover Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, however will travel anywhere within Australia if required.

The first interstate journey for Truck 58 took place this week, with a trip from Melbourne to Sydney to transfer three Toyota forklifts to the WFL Sydney branch.

Rob English, WFL Transport Manager, is thrilled to have another interstate truck in the fleet. Rob was actively involved in the previous interstate operations at WFL and has overseen this new undertaking with great enthusiasm.

And from Charlie Schwerkolt, Managing Director of Waverley Forklifts and WFL Transport: “I’m super excited about having a new dedicated interstate B-Double transporter. A beautiful new T610 Kenworth, shiny and black and proudly delivering forklifts between all of our branches and long serving customers. It’s a natural progression to serve all of our branches in getting the best equipment the most efficient way.”
